Firstly: A great big thanks to everyone who came out to the last Argo Open Mic #8. It was a great success, with just over twenty readers from around the city. All of the poems, samples of novellas and songs made for a great and eclectic evening.
All the more reason for another open mic! This one is going to be starting at August 22nd at 7:30PMwith the doors opening at 7PM. Bring your fiction, poetry, spoken-word, music and articles to the monthly Argo Open Mic and Reading Circle! Readings of favourite authors are welcome too! We had a great turnout with #8, and we hope just as much if not more Montrealers come out to read aloud for 5 minutes.
Everything and everyone is welcome. Encourage your friends and family to come out and share what they’ve been working on.
Secondly: Our first ever Argo Book Swap on August 26th running from 12PM to 4PM.
While we sell new retail books at the Argo, we thought it’d be nice for us all to get together in these last days of summer in the southern half of the Architecture Museum Park (corner of St. Marc & Rene Levesque) to talk about what we’ve all been reading and to exchange well-loved books with one another. We’ll be setting ourselves up on blankets next to the crabapple trees. Look for the red flag!
Bring a few books out and lay them out for pick up while finding something for yourself, and if you feel so inclined, bring something to sip and snack on. We will donate the remaining books to a local charity.
Hope to see you there!
