“Montreal Serai is a not-for-profit webzine focused on arts, culture, and politics. [It] began as a local theatre and arts collective that went on to produce a print magazine. Montreal Serai aims to stretch the margins with thoughtful essays, reviews, commentaries, short stories, poems, artwork, videos, music and much more. Neither strictly local, nor only current affairs, [it hopes] to provide an alternative perspective that goes beyond mainstream concerns.”
This upcoming issue will include a moving story of a young woman in India; a reflection on teaching literacy in Central America and the questions of class raised in that work; an essay on Montreal’s jazz underground; another essay on Big Bear, Rudy Wiebe, and native issues in Canada.
Submissions are welcome, from articles on the arts/culture/politics (no more than 3000 words) to original submissions of prose, poetry or fiction (also not to exceed 3,000 words). Submission deadline is the 1st of March (push 15 April).
